Titanic's Final Resting Place

David R. Slavitt is author of the poem Titanic which was written in 1993.  In the beginning of the 1980's, the sunken Titanic had become of great interest to many.  In 1980, the first grim expedition for the Titanic took place, but ended with no major findings due to weather conditions.  The second expedition took place a year later, in 1981, where it was believed that they have found a "propeller" even though it could not be confirmed.   A third expedition took pace in 1983, which is the same year that Slavitt wrote the poem Titanic, with no better luck than the first and ended up with no progressFinally, in 1985, there was the discovery of a broiler, which led to the two pieces found of the Titanic.
